Abstract

Smart home is an Internet of Things-based technology that allows automatic control of home devices, thereby increasing the comfort and safety of occupants. This study aims to design and develop a smart home system that is able to detect human presence and distinguish types of objects, such as humans, animals, and objects, using PIR sensors, ESP32-CAM, and the YOLOv3 algorithm. This system is also designed to detect gas leaks through the MQ-2 sensor, control automatic ventilation using a servo motor, and send notifications in real time via Telegram and Blynk. The study uses the waterfall method which includes needs analysis, system design, hardware and software implementation, testing, and maintenance. The main components used include ESP32, ESP32-CAM, PIR sensor, MQ-2 sensor, and servo motor. The results of the study showed that the system successfully detected movement accurately and distinguished objects with the YOLOv3 algorithm. The MQ-2 sensor proved responsive to gas leaks, where the servo motor automatically opened the ventilation as a safety measure. This system is also capable of sending images and live streaming via Telegram, while Blynk is used to monitor overall data. With the integration of Internet of Things and data analysis, this system provides an effective solution to improve home efficiency, security, and comfort. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of more advanced smart home technology in the future.
