Abstract

Instilling moral values is a mission because it is a must and the main thing for the teacher to do. The roles of teachers in instilling moral values basically influence the level of understanding, practice and awareness of students in applying the values. The problem formulation of the study is: what are the roles of moral teachers in instilling moral values in students. The aim of the study is to investigate the roles of moral teachers in instilling moral values in students. The type of the study is a field research with a qualitative approach conducted at MTs Fadhilah Pekanbaru. The data collection techniques of the study are observation, interviews, and documentation with a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study show that the moral teachers have roles in instilling moral values in form of educational aspects directly by example, advice, training, competition and habituation as well as indirect education in the form of prohibitions, supervision and punishment. The culture and environment that exist at MTs Fadhilah Pekanbaru influence the addition of moral values to students. An organizational culture and environment are attached to the institution such as the habit of greeting, respecting elders, not cheating, being honest and so on. However, there are some things that are unfortunate in the form of students who are still negligent in carrying out and applying some of the culture of Islamic moral values with light punishment from the school. The suggestion of the study is that the students should maintain morals in order to become good human beings with noble morals.
