Abstract

This research was motivated by the low participation of students in learning activities at Islamic Junior High School Al-Kautsar Pekanbaru. In the learning process, students needed to have high participation to achieve the desired learning objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the cooperative learning method on student participation in the Akidah Akhlak class VII at Islamic Junior High School Al- Kautsar Pekanbaru. This type of research was quantitative correlational. The population in this study comprised all grade VII students at Islamic Junior High School Al-Kautsar Pekanbaru, totaling 92 students, and data were collected using questionnaires. The results of this study indicated that the hypothesis of the influence of the cooperative learning method on student participation was accepted with a significance of 0.001. The effect of the cooperative learning method on student participation was moderate (0.463 or 46.3%), suggesting that if the cooperative learning method was enhanced, it could increase student participation by 0.540 or 54.0%. It could be concluded that there was an influence of the cooperative learning method on student participation in the Akidah Akhlak class at Islamic Junior High School Al-Kautsar Pekanbaru.
