Abstract
Students as the nation's next generation should study and become people who study at the tertiary level. Apart from that, reading, writing, research, discussion and organizing are activities that students should do. However, in reality, students are individuals who fall into the category of teenagers who are known for their unstable nature and often do not want to give in to following trends. They always make fashion something they want to show off on their social media. With trends that can become hype, according to him, such as having branded goods and OOTD (fashion) that are attractive and unique are one of the lifestyles that students want. This research aims to observe and research the phenomenon of the hedonistic lifestyle on Instagram social media (study of students in Pekanbaru). This research uses descriptive qualitative. Informants were taken using purposive sampling, namely based on certain considerations and criteria. Data obtained using primary and secondary data. The data analysis technique in this research uses data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. This research shows that the hedonistic lifestyle phenomenon on Instagram social media among students in Pekanbaru is strongly influenced by activities, interests and opinions which are reflected in three categories of hedonistic lifestyle: self-existence, entertainment and fear of missing out (FOMO).
