Abstract

Abstract Self Disclosure via Instagram Stroies Bearded Students at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Riau University Jakiah Febriani 189110281 Humans often share information with other people, whether about themselves or others, because basically humans need other people who are usually called social creatures. Virtual communication is an activity of exchanging information through cyberspace which prioritizes the interactive aspect of the communicator and the communicant. This research aims to determine Self-Disclosure through Instagram Stories of Bearded Students at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Riau Islamic University. This research uses a type of qualitative descriptive research with data analysis techniques in the form of observations, observations, interviews and documentation. The results of the research show that students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Riau University express themselves implicitly through Instagram Stories in a unique way and focus on religious content. Findings show that students prefer to express themselves through photos related to religious activities, inspirational quotes, and involvement in social activities. The use of religious photos, such as moments of worship and religious learning activities, reflects their identity and commitment to Islamic values. Overall, the self-disclosure made by FAI UIR students through Instagram Stories reflects their religious values and provides insight into how social media can function as a platform for sharing life views, while maintaining individual privacy. This research suggests that further research be conducted to explore other factors that influence self-disclosure on social media, especially in broader and more diverse contexts.
