Abstract

The implementation of extracurricular activities is a form of activity carried out by instructors and students in the process of self-development regarding a specific subject, conducted outside of regular school hours, typically in the afternoon after the main learning sessions have concluded. The drum band is a group of individuals who play various types of musical instruments such as wind instruments, percussion, and other instruments to accompany a song. This research focuses on the issue of how the drum band extracurricular activity is implemented at SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru, with the aim of understanding the execution of the drum band extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study conclude that the drum band extracurricular activities at SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru are conducted effectively, covering aspects such as the communication of objectives, explanation of materials, use of methods, utilization of facilities and infrastructure, and evaluation during the extracurricular process. The drum band extracurricular activity at SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru is considered to be successful in fostering students' musical talents and serves as a platform for developing the musical abilities of the students at SMP Negeri 12 Pekanbaru.
