Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Free Fire online game addiction on third-grade elementary school students. Free Fire is one of the most popular online games among children; however, excessive gaming tendencies can lead to various negative impacts. The research employs a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation.The findings reveal that Free Fire addiction among third-grade students affects physical, psychological, and social aspects. Physically, it reduces concentration during learning activities. Psychologically, gaming addiction triggers aggressive behavior and difficulty in controlling emotions. Socially, children tend to isolate themselves, experience a decline in social interaction, and show less respect for rules in both school and home environments.This study recommends active roles for parents and teachers in supervising children’s activities and educating them on managing their gaming time. The informants in this study were three students from SDN 007 Teluk Paman Timur selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected by conducting interviews with the three students. The results indicate that online gaming addiction dominates their thoughts, reduces tolerance, affects emotional stability, causes restlessness and anger, and can lead to conflicts. These factors significantly impact students’ learning motivation, social interaction, use of harsh language, and empathy towards their surroundings.
