Abstract

A common crime in the community is the theft of motor vehicles (curanmor), even the perpetrators are no longer committed by adults but have also experienced an increase in cases committed also by children. In order to give effect to the perpetrator of a crime, an attempt is made to control the criminal activity of the offender, i.e. to sanction the criminalization in the form of law enforcement to the criminal offence. The main issue in this study is how the law enforcement against the criminal acts of theft of motor vehicles committed by children in the territory of Bukit Raya Polsek as well as what obstacles the police in the implementation of the law. This research uses qualitative research methods with descriptive analysis methods by conducting interviews. The results of this study explain how the efforts undertaken by the Bukit Raya police are based on some legislative regulations such as in the Law No. 2 of 2002 on the State Police of the Republic of Indonesia, preventive and repressive efforts. This study concluded that the police should raise awareness of social problems, whether real or potential, more vigorously socialise the community and also the school where the children grow up. It invites the citizens to participate in helping the police in carrying out their tasks that are not limited only to the suppression of crime, such as testifying as witnesses so that the investigation process does not get hindered.
