Abstract

The crime of palm fruit theft is a problem, especially in Pelalawan Regency. Based on the information we received from the Criminal Investigation Unit (Sat Reskrim) of the Pelalawan Resort Police (POLRES), in this case the crime of palm oil theft will increase in 2022. With this case, it is a demand for the police to anticipate it more optimally due to With the high increase in cases of palm oil theft, it can be said that efforts to tackle palm oil theft have not been running optimally compared to 2021. The main problem of the research is what factors cause the criminal act of theft of palm fruit in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Resort Police, and how to overcome the criminal act of theft of palm fruit in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Resort Police. The research method is a type of legal research observational research or survey. Meanwhile, its nature is descriptive, namely where the author describes clearly and in detail the problem to be studied. The results of the research show that the factors causing the criminal act of theft of palm fruit in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Resort Police are economic factors where the perpetrator does not have the money to pay for his daily needs, but this is basically due to the perpetrator's low morals resulting in committing the crime and generally in the form of problems. poverty, unemployment and others and accompanied by environmental factors, and efforts to overcome the criminal act of palm fruit theft in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Resort Police are not yet running well due to obstacles in its implementation even though the police have coordinated and cooperated between officers and between agencies related to the problem, carry out routine patrols/raids, provide legal education to the community and follow up on every report of a criminal act, including the crime of theft of fresh palm fruit bunches, then provide strict legal sanctions against perpetrators of criminal acts to provide a deterrent effect in accordance with the sense of justice in society with legal certainty.
