Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of the Pekanbaru City Social Service in the protection and guidance of street children in Pekanbaru City and to determine the factors that inhibit the Pekanbaru City Social Service in protecting and guiding street children in Pekanbaru City. Guidance carried out by the Pekanbaru City Social Service has not been implemented optimally and effectively because the service itself does not provide social development guidance, education guidance, and skills guidance, therefore guidance for street children is said to have not been implemented properly. The benefits of this study are as material for consideration for the Pekanbaru City government, namely the Pekanbaru City Social Service in protecting and guiding street children. The method used in this study is qualitative research by collecting data through interviews, observations and documentation. The informants in this study were the Head of the Social Rehabilitation Section and child protection, the community and street children. The results of the study on the role of the Pekanbaru City Social Service in protecting and fostering street children in Pekanbaru City have not been implemented properly, because there are still many street children roaming the streets and there is no guidance provided by the Pekanbaru City Social Service.
