Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on the motivation to learn biology of class X students of SMAN 3 Kampar Regency, Riau. This type of research is an experiment with a Randomized control group pretest - posttest design. The sampling technique is a random sampling technique. The sample in this study was class X.6 as the experimental class and class X.4 as the control class. The number of samples in this study was 152 students. The instrument used was a learning motivation questionnaire consisting of 36 validated statements. The data collection techniques for this research consist of Questionnaires, Interviews, Observations and Documentation. The results of this research show that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the biology learning motivation of class can be seen from the average difference between the experimental class of 77.97% with the strong category and the control class of 73.71% with the strong category. It can be seen that the average of the experimental class has a higher value than the control class based on the ttest <0.05, namely 0.008 008, which is smaller than the alpha (?) value, namely 0.05, which means that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
