Abstract

Significantly, technological advances have taken an important role in the world of education as it is today. Canva is one of the new breakthroughs that are widely used by teachers or lecturers, and also students as a medium of teaching and learning today. Based on this, everyone has a different opinion on its use. Different student perceptions can provide suggestions, so that difficulties or problems faced by teachers, lecturers and students can be overcome in the future in learning media, especially the Canva application. This research was conducted by using a descriptive qualitative method. This research aims to determine students’ perception of using Canva at sixth semester students of English Education of Teacher Training and Education in Universitas Islam Riau by using the indicators named Perceive Ease of Use and Perceive Usefulness. The research findings reflected that the entire indicators mentioned were positively responded. The data were obtained through questionnaire distribution toward 30 samples of sixth semester students of English Education were joining the News And Report: Writing, Editing class. The results of the 30 samples showed that students' perception of using Canva application in teaching and learning were varied where the highest percentage is from question number 1, 2, 4, and number 6 that reached up to 100% of students positively answered while the entire percentage from 10 questions was 91% that means the perceptions were categorized into positive.
