Abstract

This thesis is entitled Consumer Protection for Alkha Laundry Consumers for the Negligence of Business Actors Causing Consumer Losses Based on Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The current background is that the laundry service business is enjoyed by many people because many people are busy and unable to carry out daily activities such as washing clothes or ironing clothes in the sense that globalization has influenced people's lifestyles and personalities which lead to fast-paced or practical behavior. The problems examined in this thesis are How is Legal Protection for Laundry consumers for the negligence of business actors which results in consumer losses based on Law no. 8 of 1999. What is the settlement of the negligence of the Alkha Laundry business actor which results in consumer losses based on Law no. 8 of 1999. The method used is the observational research method which is carried out by means of a survey, which is research that is directly carried out at the location using a data collection tool in the form of an interview technique. The results of the research that has been done can be seen that the laundry service business actor in Bukit Barisan has been responsible in terms of losses suffered by consumers who use the business, so that it is in accordance with Article 19 of Law No. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. The principle of responsibility that is generally applied in the laundry service business is the principle of responsibility based on mistakes and the principle of responsibility with limitations. Settlement efforts by business actors and consumers use deliberation because settlement by deliberation is more efficient, practical and economical.
