Abstract
Based on observations and interviews regarding the ability to write procedural texts, class XI IPA 2 students are still categorized as lacking. This was obtained from the test results shown by the teacher, out of 32 students in class in the linguistic aspect, namely command verbs. Therefore, the researcher wants to prove and find out whether the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai Utara is still categorized as low. The purpose of this study is to prove and find out the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students during classroom learning. The formulation of the problem in this study is: (1). How is the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai Utara, Rokan Hulu Regency in the 2022/2023 academic year based on text structure?, and (2). How is the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai Utara, Rokan Hulu Regency in the 2022/2023 academic year based on the language of the text? This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach, because the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai Utara is in the form of data related to numbers. The data collection technique used by the researcher is the observation and test technique. The population was 242 students and the sample taken using the purposive sampling technique was class XI IPA 2 as many as 32 students. The results of the study showed that the ability to write procedural texts of class XI IPA 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Tambusai Utara in the structural aspect was categorized as sufficient by getting an average score of 67 in the category of Sufficient (C) and in the linguistic aspect getting an average score of 91.25 in the category of Very Good (A). students have difficulty writing texts in the structural aspect in writing objectives and the linguistic aspect in writing conjunctions.
