Abstract

The low numeracy literacy skills of students make it necessary to develop and one of the abilities that must be instilled in students is self efficacy. This study aims to describe students' numeracy literacy ability in terms of student self-efficacy. The type of research used is qualitative research with a case study method. The subjects of the study were 30 grade VIII students of SMPN 34 Pekanbaru for the 2022/2023 academic year. Data collection techniques in this study are test techniques using HOTS-based numeracy literacy ability test instruments and non-test techniques in the form of self-efficacy questionnaires and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques are carried out through several stages which include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that; (1) overall, the numeracy literacy ability of SMPN 34 Pekanbaru students is classified as poor; (2) overall self-efficacy of SMPN 34 Pekanbaru students is mostly classified as medium; (3) Self efficacy is in line with numeracy literacy ability where students with high self-efficacy have high numeracy literacy ability which is characterized by students being able to master two indicators of numeracy literacy. Students with moderate self-efficacy have moderate numeracy literacy ability which are characterized by students being able to master one indicator of numeracy literacy. Meanwhile, students with low self-efficacy do not have numeracy literacy ability which are characterized by students not being able to master numeracy literacy indicators.
