Abstract

This research aims to test and compare the ability of three widely used digital forensic tools to analyze browsing history on Windows operating systems. The tools used include Autopsy, Browser History Examiner (BHE) and NetAnalysis. The method used is a laboratory test using simulated data that has been prepared previously. This research focuses on forensic static analysis, which is an analysis performed on immutable data, to identify deleted or hidden browsing history. Tests were conducted by examining each tool's ability to recover deleted data from the browsing history, analyze the structure of the found data, and reconstruct information related to the browsing history. The results show that Autopsy, BHE, and NetAnalysis each have strengths and weaknesses in terms of their ability to retrieve and analyze browsing history data. Autopsy showed outstanding performance in terms of usability and integration into the overall examination process, while BHE stood out for its ability to recover deleted data. NetAnalysis, on the other hand, has the edge when it comes to detailed data analysis and viewing browsing history.
