Abstract
Alam Mayang Recreation Park serves as a family recreational area, offering a natural ambiance and a spacious layout. Conveniently located on Jl. H. Imam Munandar KM. 8 near Pekanbaru city, the park has experienced a decline in visitor numbers. To develop effective development strategies, it is crucial to comprehensively understand visitor characteristics. This study aims to: (1) assess the existing conditions of Alam Mayang Recreation Park, (2) analyze the characteristics of visitors to Alam Mayang, (3) identify the motivations driving visitors to Alam Mayang, and (4) formulate a development plan for Alam Mayang based on visitor motivations. A mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research, will be employed to examine the development strategies of Alam Mayang based on visitor motivations and characteristics. The research will utilize various analytical techniques: (1) identifying the existing conditions of tourism at Alam Mayang Recreation Park based on the 4A's framework (attractions, accessibility, amenities, and ancillary services), (2) employing a Likert scale analysis to analyze the characteristics of visitors to Alam Mayang in Pekanbaru, (3) conducting a motivational analysis to identify the potential of each attraction within Alam Mayang, and (4) using an EFAS (External Factor Analysis Summary) and IFAS (Internal Factor Analysis Summary) to identify relevant internal and external factors, followed by a SWOT analysis to formulate a development plan. The results indicate that Alam Mayang's existing conditions can be analyzed through the four components of the 4A's framework. Attractions include natural beauty, native trees, artificial lakes, and recreational facilities. Accessibility is crucial for visitor convenience and requires adequate infrastructure. Quality supporting facilities can increase visitor interest, while supporting organizations provide additional services such as information and security. Data from questionnaires reveal a diverse range of visitors, primarily local residents of various ages, genders, occupations, and income levels. Visitors are drawn to nature-based tourism and family vacations, valuing togetherness and relaxation. Travel motivations are influenced by desires and destination attractiveness. Based on the IE Matrix, Alam Mayang falls into quadrant V, suggesting the need for a development plan focused on sustainability and maintaining the destination.
