Abstract

Framing Analysis of News Coverage of Rumors of Kaeasang Pangarep's Nomination Issues in the 2024 Jakarta DKI Election on Kompas.Com Online Media Wendi Aditya Simatupang 210110318 This research aims to see the framing in the news of Kaesang Pangarep's nomination rumors in the DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election in 2024 on the online media Kompas.com. In the news, Kompas.com reported on the rumored issue of Kaesang Pangarep's candidacy which is likely to run in the contestation of the DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election in 2024. The rumor of Kaesang Pangarep's nomination issue has invited controversy and received attention from the public due to changes in the age limit rules for regional heads issued by the Supreme Court. From the above problems, researchers tried to examine the framing carried out by the online media Kompas.com in the period June 3-7, 2024. This research uses a qualitative approach with the Pan and Kosicki model framing analysis method, which consists of a syntactic structure, namely how journalists are scripted, thematic, and rhetorical. The results showed that Kompas.com tends to frame the issue of Kaesang's candidacy in the: 1. context of political dynasty and power intervention. This media consistently links Kaesang's candidacy with his status as "the youngest son of President Jokowi", 2. highlights changes in MA rules that open opportunities for Kaesang to run in Pilkada, 3. The themes of Kaesang's dependence on external factors, political dynasty, and power intervention create a common thread and connect the five news stories.
