Abstract
This study aims to determine the self-concept possessed by cosplayers who are members of the Aogirifams community in Pekanbaru City. Cosplay is a form of self-expression through costumes and characters adapted from Japanese popular culture, such as anime and manga. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation to five informants who are active members of the Aogirifams community. The results showed that the self-concept of cosplayers is formed from social interactions in the community environment, peer support, and acceptance of themselves, both from psychological, social, and physical aspects. Most informants show a positive self-concept because they feel confident, accepted, and able to express themselves through cosplay activities. This strengthens William D. Brooks' self-concept theory which states that self-concept is formed from perceptions of life experiences and social interactions, involving psychological, social, and physical dimensions.
