Abstract

Film is a popular mass media today. Moreover, film is also a medium of entertainment which is one of the functions of communication, film has its own space for the audience when compared to other mass media. This is because films are made with a specific purpose, the results of which are projected onto the big screen and watched by many people around the world. In addition to being entertainment, films also function as a medium for conveying moral messages. One of them is the film 172 Days. This drama genre film with Islamic nuances is taken directly from the true story of the novelist herself, Nadzira Shafa. The film 172 Days has a moral message that is conveyed universally in the existing scenes by touching on contemporary issues such as mental health, friendship, the journey of migration, and love stories. These messages can be used as a teaching for the audience in real life. This study uses a semiotic analysis method or generally uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out using observation and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic analysis which focuses more on the concept of signifier and signified. The results of the analysis of this study show 3 parts of moral messages with 13 forms of behavior, namely: human relationships with oneself which have 4 parts such as: self-confidence, honesty, sincerity and fortitude, human relationships with other humans which have 7 parts such as: praise, care, advice, empathy, affection, devotion and gratitude, human relationships with God which have 2 parts, namely: praying and praying.
