Abstract

This research aims to determine the comparison of the Jigsaw type and STAD type cooperative learning models on the numerical abilities of class VII students at SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was all students in class VII of SMP Negeri 14 Pekanbaru for the 2023/2024 academic year, and the research sample was class VII.1 as experimental class 1 using theSTAD type and class VII.5 as experimental class 2 using the Jigsaw type. The data collection instrument used was the test technique. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical and inferential statistical. Based on the calculation results of the Mann-Whitney U test, the averageposttest score for the STAD class was 32,48 and the average posttest score for the Jigsaw class in the Mann-Whitney U test was 21,31. So it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a difference in numerical ability between students taught using the Jigsaw type and STAD type cooperative learning model. Where the STAD type is better than the Jigsaw type in improving students' numerical abilities.
