Abstract
There are many teachings of Islam that foster self-control, but there has been no research that makes self-control a mediator of Islamic religiosity and Online-Fear of Missing Out (ON-FoMO). The purpose of this study was to determine the role of self-control as a mediator of the effect of Islamic religiosity on ON-FoMO. The research subjects amounted to 205 social media user respondents in Indonesia, with incidental sampling technique. The instrument used in this study is the Online-Fear of Missing Out (ON-FoMO) scale consisting of 20 items, the Brief Self Control Scale (BSCS) scale consisting of 10 items, and the Indonesian-Psychological Measurement of Islamic Religiousness (I-PMIR) consisting of 52 items. The results of statistical analysis using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) Partial Least Square showed that the Islamic religiosity variable has a significant negative influence indirectly on ON-FoMO through self-control. The practical implication of this study is the need for religious value-based intervention design in shaping self-control to prevent Online-Fear of Missing Out (ON-FoMO).
