Abstract

Students who do not have a father figure (fatherless) may experience psychological challenges that impact their well-being. Social support plays a crucial role in helping individuals cope with various psychological pressures. This study aims to examine and analyze the relationship between social support and psychological well-being among fatherless students at Universitas Islam Riau. This research employs a quantitative method. The subjects of this study consisted of 100 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data collection method utilized a Likert scale. The scales used were the RPWB (Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale), which was adapted by Putri (2023) with a total of 18 items to measure psychological well-being, and the social support scale developed by Putri (2023) with a total of 27 items to measure social support. The data analysis technique used was Pearson Product-Moment correlation, yielding a correlation coefficient value of r = -0.280 and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between social support and psychological well-being among fatherless students at Universitas Islam Riau.
