Abstract
The aim of this research is to know a significant effect of using video on students’ writing ability in analytical exposition text of eleventh grade students’ SMAN 3 Siak Hulu. Problem that faced by the students when they write, especially in writing analytical exposition, so by using video as a media the researcher wants to find out whether is a significant effect on students’ writing ability after using video as a media. The researcher used quasi experimental design. It consist of two classes, XI.6 as the experimental class and XI.7 as a control class and the instrument in this research is a written test, include of pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students’ SMAN 3 Siak Hulu. The researcher used statistical analysis to find out the effect of using video on students’ writing ability of eleventh grade students at SMAN 3 Siak Hulu. The result of the research showed that there was a difference in increasing in writing ability between students in class XI.6 after being taught by using video and students in XI.7 taught without using video. It could be seen from the average score experimental class in pre-test was 52.6 while in post-test was 69.13. The result of analysis, it showed that the value of t-calculated (4.445) is bigger than of t-table (2.074). While the significant value of the analysis is with sig (2-tailed). Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. So, It could be concluded that there was the significant effect of using Video students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at eleventh grade of SMAN 3 Siak Hulu.
