Abstract
This research intends to explain the learning independence of students with intellectual disabilities at SLB Kasih Ibu in Pekanbaru City. The study uses a descriptive method along with a subjective technique to profoundly comprehend the encounters and insights of the participants. The subjects consist of three parents of students with intellectual disabilities and one teacher. Information were gathered via comprehensive discussions, monitoring, and records, and examined with subject-based assessment methods. The results disclose that the education autonomy of learners having cognitive impairments is influenced by support from families, teachers, and the school environment. Parents play a vital role in providing basic skill training, while teachers assist through teaching approaches tailored to the students' needs. Although students with intellectual disabilities face challenges in time management, structured routines and a supportive environment can help them improve their learning independence. This study recommends collaboration among families, teachers, and schools in developing programs that support the independence of students with intellectual disabilities.
