Abstract
This study was motivated by the low Arabic-speaking proficiency of 7 th grade students at Islamic Junior High School Al-Ikhwan Pekanbaru. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of the storytelling method in improving Arabic-speaking proficiency of seventh-grade students at Islamic Junior High School Al-Ikhwan Pekanbaru. This study was quantitative research using a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test. The research involved one experimental group consisting of 33 students and one control group consisting of 25 students. Data collection was conducted through tests and documentation, while data analysis used the t-test statistical technique (independent and paired sample) with the assistance of SPSS 22 software. The results showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores using the storytelling method, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The storytelling method was proven to be more effective in improving students' Arabic-speaking proficiency in 7 th grade at Islamic Junior High School Al-Ikhwan Pekanbaru, leading to the acceptance of Ha hypothesis.
