Abstract

Boarding school is an institution of religious rituals, moral development, Islamic education, as well as a social institution that has experienced various challenges of the times that are adjusted to the dynamics of community growth. The purpose of boarding school is to form a Muslim personality who masters Islamic teachings and practices them, so that it is beneficial for religion, society, and the state. This study aims to determine the Role of Boarding Schools in Forming Student Learning Independence at the Integrated Boarding School of Serambi Mekkah Padang Panjang. This type of research is Qualitative with a case study approach. Case study research aims to determine the Efforts of the role of boarding schools in forming learning independence. The subjects of this study were the Head of the Serambi Mekkah Integrated Islamic Boarding School Foundation, the Head of MA Serambi Mekkah, the Head of SMA Uswatun Hasanah and 7 students of the Serambi Mekkah Integrated Islamic Boarding School Padang Panjang. Meanwhile, the object of this study is the Role of Islamic Boarding Schools in Forming Learning Independence. In this study, the author obtained concrete data and really supported in collecting data in the form of observations, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the research and data analysis that the author conducted on the role of Islamic boarding schools in forming learning independence of students at the Serambi Mekkah Integrated Islamic Boarding School Padang Panjang, it can be concluded that Islamic boarding schools play an important role in forming learning independence of students through programs in the fields of economics, social activities, and integrated learning in Islamic boarding schools.
