Abstract

Research on the effect of giving banana stem bokashi and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth of areca nut (Areca catechu L.) seedlings in initial nurseries. This research aims to determine the interaction effect and the main effect of banana stem bokashi and NPK 16:16:16. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru from February to May 2023. This research used a factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is banana stem bokashi which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0, 225, 450 and 675 g per polybag. The second factor is the dose of NPK 16:16:16 which consists of 4 treatment levels, namely: 0, 6, 12 and 18 g per polybag. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications so there were 48 experimental units. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaf sheaths, length of leaf sheaths, stem girth and root volume. The data was analyzed statistically and continued with the honest real difference test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the interaction effect of banana stem bokashi and NPK 16:16:16 was significantly different on the parameters of plant height, number of leaf sheaths, sheath length and root volume. The main effect of banana stem bokashi was significantly different on all observation parameters with the best treatment being at a dose of 675 g per polybag. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 was significantly different on all observed parameters with the best treatment being at a dose of 18 g per polybag.
