Abstract

The development of character building was very important in Islamic education and had a significant impact on the personality of each student. The main goal of the learning process was to ensure that education led students to acquire good and noble character. Therefore, intensive teaching efforts through moral education were necessary to instill a high level of moral awareness in students. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of Islamic education on character building of 11th-grade students at Senior High School 6 Pinggir, Bengkalis Regency. This research used a quantitative correlation approach, with data collected through a questionnaire distributed to 67 respondents. The normality test result was 0.200 > 0.05, and the T-test showed that t-value (13.392) > t-table (1.669). The results indicated that Islamic education had a positive and significant influence on character building of 11th-grade students at Senior High School 6 Pinggir. The coefficient of determination (R2) test result was 73.4%, meaning that Islamic education influenced 73.4% of the students' character building, while the remaining 26.6% was influenced by other variables not included in this study.
