Abstract

This study aimed to explore the collaboration between teachers and parents in instilling the habit of performing the five daily prayers (Shalat) among fifth-grade students at Bunayya Islamic Integrated Elementary School Pekanbaru. The research employed a qualitative approach, which produces descriptive qualitative data in the form of written or spoken words from individuals and observed behaviors. The subjects of this study consisted of five individuals, including one curriculum representative, one homeroom teacher, one Islamic Education teacher, and two parents of students. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and documentation. The results and discussion indicated that the collaboration between the Islamic Education teacher and parents in fostering the habit of performing the five daily prayers among fifth-grade students at Bunayya Islamic Integrated Elementary School Pekanbaru was relatively good. Evidence showed that students performed prayers both at school and at home. However, prayer practices at home were less effective, as students often missed the Fajr (dawn) and Asr (afternoon) prayers. The forms of collaboration between the Islamic Education teacher and parents included home visits, inviting parents to school, case conferences, correspondence between the school and families, the use of grade reports or report cards, providing examples or role models, offering advice, establishing routines, enforcing discipline, and providing motivation and encouragement.
