Abstract

This study aims to describe expressive speech acts in the comments column on the Instagram account @kompascom. This study aims to describe expressive speech acts that appear in the comments column on the Instagram account @kompascom. In this research, it is possible to analyze comments containing disclosure speech acts such as expressing emotions, opinions, or reactions to information provided by the @kompascom account. The research method that can be used is content analysis, in which comments containing expressive speech acts can be identified and placed based on the type of expression desired. Apart from that, qualitative analysis can also be carried out to gain a deeper understanding of the context and meaning of the expressive speech acts that appear in the comments column. The results of this study are able to provide a broader understanding of how expressive speech acts are used in the context of social media such as Instagram. In addition, this research can also provide useful information for the @kompascom account as an information medium in understanding the responses and reactions of its followers to the content presented. Although expressive speech usually arises from the attitude of the interviewer, in some cases this does not always happen. For example, someone who is angry but uses expressive speech acts such as saying thank you. This phenomenon often occurs in conversations both directly and through social media. In interactions through social media, users have the freedom to communicate and express their opinions, so often expressive speech acts become more visible.
