Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interaction and main treatment of empty oil palm bunch fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 on the growth and production of cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.), which has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City, from December 2023 to April 2024. The study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the dose of empty oil palm bunch fertilizer, consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 75, 150, 225 g/plant and the second factor is the dose of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer, consisting of 4 levels, namely 0; 2.5; 5; 7.5 g/plant. The parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvest age, number of primary branches, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per fruit and number of remaining fruits per plant. The data were analyzed statistically and continued with the 5% BNJ test. The results showed that the interaction effect of empty oil palm bunch fertilizer and NPK 16:16:16 was significant on the parameters of plant height, number of primary branches, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per fruit and number of remaining fruits per plant with the best treatment at a dose of empty oil palm bunch fertilizer of 225 g/plant and NPK 16:16:16 7.5 g/plant. The main effect of empty oil palm bunch fertilizer was significant on all observation parameters with the best treatment at a dose of 225 g/plant. The main effect of NPK 16:16:16 fertilizer was significant on all observation parameters with the best treatment at a dose of 7.5 g/plant.
