Abstract

Online gambling is a game that relies on luck (hockey) which is played using a computer or smartphone using an internet network connection and these games use money as a bet in the game. Basically, almost all those who commit online gambling crimes are for self-pleasure. In fact, there are also quite a number of them who repeat gambling because of a shortage in the economy. Especially during the Covid 19 pandemic in 2019 to 2022. And many in their environment like to play online gambling so they mostly sell domino chips to make a profit. The main problem in this study is what are the factors that cause Higgs Domino Island Online Game Gambling in the Legal District of the Bangkinang District Court and how are efforts to deal with Higgs Domino Online Game Gambling by law enforcement officers in the Legal District of the Bangkinang District Court. The research was carried out using empirical legal research methods using research or field observations by means of surveys directly to the field, to collect primary and secondary data obtained from respondents either through questionnaires or interviews to be used as data or information as material in writing this research. Based on the research results, it can be understood that there are factors that cause a person to repeat a crime including economic factors, environmental factors and technological development factors. So that's why the police have made various efforts to deal with online game gambling crimes, namely pre-emptive, preventive and repressive efforts.
