Abstract

Illegal logging is a problem that is difficult to stop, even though this problem is an act of violation of the law which creates obstacles to the implementation of the environmental legal system which aims at good forest management. Indonesia, with its forest wealth, makes Indonesia a country that experiences high levels of illegal logging. Everyone should realize that forests are very important for the survival of every living creature that depends on forests, but due to a lack of selfawareness, violations of the law result in plants and living creatures being damaged and dying. The main research problems are: First, how is criminal law enforced in cases of illegal logging forestry crimes regarding the prevention and eradication of forest destruction in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan police station, Second, what are the obstacles faced in implementing law enforcement against perpetrators of illegal logging forestry crimes in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan police station. The research method used is observational research, namely by survey or direct inspection of the research location using data collection tools, namely interviews, while the nature of the research carried out is descriptive, qualitative data analysis. The results of the research are that law enforcement against criminal acts of illegal logging in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Police has not been able to reach all aspects of the perpetrators of illegal logging crimes even though preemptive, preventive and repressive measures have been taken. Where law enforcement is to provide a deterrent effect to perpetrators of the crime of Illegal Logging. The obstacle to law enforcement against perpetrators of the crime of Illegal Logging in the jurisdiction of the Pelalawan Police is that it is difficult to reach and monitor the perpetrators of the forestry crime of Illegal Logging because the forest area in the Pelalawan area is quite large, there is a lack of public awareness, and the perpetrators have various ways to carry out the forestry crime of Illegal Logging, especially in terms of transporting the proceeds.
