Abstract
Identify Soil Type Using USCS Classification (Unified Soil Classification System) On land owned by the Riau Islamic Education Institute Foundation (YLPI) Cold Air Region, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. ABSTRACT Geographically, the research area is located at101°14' - 101°34' East Longitude and 0°25' - 0°45' North Latitude, the research is located on the Air Cool area road, Bukit Raya sub-district, Pekanbaru City. The research aims to determine the value of water content, grain size gradations, boundariesAtterberg, soil classification and density values in soil. The method used is using a hand drill at a depth of 3 meters in 9 drill hole points. Next, analysis is carried outMoisture content, Sieve analysis, Atterberg limit andbulk density and making maps of the distribution of soil classifications in the research area along with recommendations for suitable buildings in the research area.The area has a soil water content value of 23.72% - 31.74% which is normal soil. The grain size distribution in the study area is sand with uniform grains, poor gradation and good sorting. The types of soil obtained were SM (silty sand mixed with silt sand) and SM - SC (silty sand mixed with silt sand, silty sand mixed with clay sand). Density values in the research area are based on typical valuesbulk density and the type of soil texture is dominated by sand. Recommendations for buildings that are suitable for use in the research area are shallow foundations.
