Abstract
The research aims to determine the interaction effect and the main influence of the method of pollination by Heterotrigona itama on the production of honey pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) varieties Paula F1 and Jacqueline F1. The research was carried out at the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jl. Kaharuddin Nasution KM 11 No 113, Air Winter Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City, Riau. The research was conducted for 4 months, starting from December 2022 to March 2023. This research used a divided plot design in the form of a completely randomized design, consisting of a main plot, namely pollination with 3 levels of treatment and subplots, namely varieties consisting of 2 levels of treatment. Each treatment was repeated 4 times so that there were 24 experimental units, each experimental unit contained 4 plants per plot and 2 plants were sampled, a total of 96 plants. The parameters observed were flowering age (DAP), percentage of flowers becoming pistils (%), percentage of pistils becoming fruit (%), harvest age (DAP), fruit weight per plant (g), fruit weight per plot (g), number of seeds. (seeds), honey gourd flower biorhythms (hst). The data was analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results of the research showed that the interaction effect of the Heterotrigona itama pollination method on the two honey pumpkin varieties was significantly different on the percentage of flowers becoming pistils, harvest age, and number of seeds with the best treatment using the Heterotrigona itama bee-assisted pollination method on the Jacqueline F1 honey pumpkin variety. The main effect of pollination method on the two honey pumpkin varieties was significant for all observation parameters. The best method of pollination is pollination assisted by Heterotrigona itama bees. The best treatment honey pumpkin variety is the jacqueline f1 variety.
