Abstract
Ornamental fish aquariums require regular water quality monitoring to maintain an optimal ecosystem balance for fish and other aquatic organisms. This research aims to design and implement an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring system that can provide real-time information on temperature parameters, total dissolved solids (TDS), and water turbidity levels. The system uses a DS18B20 sensor to measure temperature, a TDS sensor to detect solute levels, and a turbidity sensor to measure water turbidity, all of which are connected to an ESP32 microcontroller. Data from the sensors is automatically sent to the monitoring website platform and Telegram application to provide notifications if there are significant changes in water quality. System testing is carried out through the Black Box Testing method to ensure each feature runs according to design, as well as sensor testing to evaluate measurement accuracy and stability. The test results show that the DS18B20 sensor has an average error rate of 2.16%, the TDS sensor has a margin of error of 2.53%, and the turbidity sensor can detect changes in water clarity with a pattern of decreasing NTU values that match actual water conditions. In addition, integration with IoT enables real-time monitoring and early warning via Telegram notifications. With these results, the designed system is proven to be able to increase efficiency in monitoring aquarium water quality, thus helping aquarium owners in maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem more easily and accurately.
