Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has had a significant impact on the field of education, particularly in the delivery of information and the promotion of institutions to prospective students. Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), a private university located in Pekanbaru, faces challenges in introducing its campus environment and facilities effectively and interactively. Conventional promotional media such as brochures and pamphlets are considered less attractive due to their limited space and visual appeal. To address this issue, this study aims to design and develop a web-based virtual tour system as an informative and interactive campus introduction tool. The method used in this research is the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), which consists of six stages: concept, design, data collection, assembly, testing, and distribution. This system presents 360° panoramic views of various locations within the campus environment, accessible anytime and anywhere. The evaluation results using Software Quality Management (SQM) showed a score of 91% with an acceptance level categorized as excellent. Based on the questionnaire results, the system achieved a satisfaction score of 93.4%, also categorized as excellent. Therefore, this virtual tour system can be implemented using the MDLC method as a web-based campus introduction tool at Universitas Islam Riau.
