Abstract

Plate dance in traditional procession baaghak is a dance that originates from Gunung Malelo Village, Koto Kampar Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The aim of this research is to analyze the plate dance in traditional processions baaghak in Gunung Malelo Village, Koto Kampar Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province, so that more known by the wider community. This research uses descriptive analytical research methods with a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used were non-participant observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Plate dance has dance elements contained in it in accordance with theory, namely movement, music, dramatic design, dynamics, theme, props, staging (staging) and the audience. Plate dance is a traditional dance that has existed for a long time and has been passed down from ancestors in Mount Malelo Village around the 18th century. This plate dance functions as a symbol of gratitude to God for the blessings received in marriage and also reflects harmony and cooperation between community members involved in the traditional process. This plate dance has two types of movements, namely swinging the arms and rotating the plate. The musical instrument used in this plate dance is the barango. Dynamics in plate dance consist of changes in movement tempo, movement level, and movement volume. Stage (staging) in plate dance using the arena stage.
