Abstract
Increasing awareness of the negative impacts of air pollution on human health and the environment encourages the importance of effective monitoring of air quality. This study aims to design and implement an IoT-based air quality monitoring system in the PT. Asian Agri, Ukui District. The system is designed using NodeMCU ESP32 as the main controller, MQ-2 sensor to detect harmful gases, MQ-135 sensor to detect general air quality, GP2Y1010AUOF dust sensor to measure dust particle concentration, and turbidity sensor to measure air turbidity level. The data obtained is displayed in real-time on the LCD and transmitted to the Blynk application platform for remote monitoring. This study uses the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which consists of the needs analysis, design, implementation, and testing stages of the system. The system was tested through the measurement of air quality parameters for 10 days, covering the time of morning, afternoon, and evening. The test results show that the system can detect air quality with "safe", "moderate" and "hazardous" categories based on the percentage of air quality calculated from sensor data. Air quality measurements in the morning tend to show Safe results, while in the afternoon and evening, air quality often decreases to moderate and hazardous categories. The results showed that this system is able to provide real-time air quality information, both through local display on the LCD and remote notification through the application. This system provides significant benefits for PT. Asian Agri in an effort to monitor and maintain air quality in its work environment, as well as supporting mitigation measures against the impact of air pollution. Thus, the implementation of IoT technology in this air quality monitoring system proved to be effective and efficient.
