Abstract

This study aims to determine the existence of Marawis music in Bukit Senang Village, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. The theory used in this study is the theory of Dagun, Save M. (In Gracia Destari Mujianto and Eko Raharjo (2019:129) with indicators of Work Activity, Having Facts, and Efforts to Maintain Existence. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis using qualitative data, with data collection techniques, namely observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The subjects in this study were 5 people. The results of the findings of this study are (i) reviewed from the work activity indicator, Marawis music in Bukit Senang village still gets a lot of calls to perform, and is still known by the wider community. (ii) reviewed from the indicator of having facts, Marawis music in Bukit Senang village has its own characteristics in the musical instruments used, the function of Marawis music, costumes, the influence of Marawis music, and the performance of the Marawis music, (iii) reviewed from the aspect of efforts made in maintaining its existence, Marawis musicians in Bukit Senang village and the local community work together to maintain Marawis music.
