Abstract

With the increasing demand for centralized information system applications, webbased applications have become the primary choice. This is attributed to the advantages of easy installation, high accessibility, and multiplatform capabilities. Web-based applications require a web server to be accessed by clients through the internet network. The aim of this research is to evaluate the performance of the Nginx and Lighttpd web servers. The parameters used in this study include time taken for tests, requests per second, transfer rate, and time per request. The tool employed in this research is Apache Benchmark. Based on the test results, it can be concluded that, for serving static web content such as HTML documents and dynamic pages like PHP documents, the Nginx web server outperforms Lighttpd. Nevertheless, further research is needed, particularly in the field of load balancing technology, to ensure that users of the web server obtain more optimal results.
