Abstract

The Contribution of Arm Length and Arm Muscle Strength to the Distance of Discus Throws in Tenth-Grade Students at SMA Negeri 3 Kandis. This study aims to analyze the contribution of arm length and arm muscle strength to the distance of discus throws among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Kandis. Arm length plays a role in increasing the reach and momentum of the throw, while arm muscle strength affects the pushing force generated during the throw. This research employs a correlational method with a quantitative approach. The sample consists of 22 students selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through arm length measurements, push-up tests to assess arm muscle strength, and discus throw tests to measure throw distances. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicate that arm length contributes 45.4% to the discus throw distance, while arm muscle strength contributes 38.6%. Simultaneously, both variables account for 76.7% of the throw distance. These findings suggest that the longer the arms and the stronger the arm muscles, the farther the discus throw can reach. This study is expected to provide insights for coaches and educators in designing more effective training strategies to enhance students' discus throw performance.
