Abstract

Cultural heritage is material cultural heritage in the form of objects, buildings, structures, sites and cultural heritage areas on land and water whose existence needs to be preserved because they have important value for history, science, education, religion and culture through the designation process. Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that is capable of combining two-dimensional and three-dimensional virtual objects into a real environment and displayed in real time. The Pekanbaru cultural heritage promotion media application uses Augmented Reality in the process using Unity 3D software and AR Core SDK, and the creation of 3D animated objects is done using blender software. This application uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method. The test results in this research found that the application can display 3D objects with a minimum light intensity of 11 lux at a minimum distance of 25 cm to 175 cm outside and inside the room and can track the location of plain objects, textured objects and uneven objects. The index value from the system implementation calculation results is 85% of respondents "Strongly Agree". So promotional media applications using augmented reality (AR) can be used for Cultural Heritage Promotion Media in Pekanbaru.
