Abstract

Along with the development of technology and science, workers are required to be able to use new technological tools, because the more sophisticated the tools are, the higher their efficiency will be and can benefit the company. However, in reality, the use of technological tools can also have a negative impact on workers or even companies, resulting in frequent violations that can lead to accidents and illnesses caused by work accidents. Through this research, will analyze the implementation of occupational health and safety protection for workers at PT National Sago Prima in Kepau Baru Village, Tebing Tinggi Timur District, Meranti Islands Regency, based on Law No. 13 of 2003 concerning employment and inhibiting factors in implementing occupational health and safety protection for workers at these companies. This research is qualitative, using a type of sociological legal research that utilizes primary and secondary data. The data is then presented descriptively by describing in detail the implementation of occupational health and safety and the factors that influence it. Results show that PT. National Sago Prima (NSP) has implemented safety and work safety efforts by providing personal protective equipment for workers, but there are still some workers who do not comply with the regulations. The company has tried to reprimand the workers, but they do not want to use PPE on the pretext that they are used to doing their work without PPE. These are the things that cause work accidents. In fact, wearing PPE and implementing occupational safety and health requirements is a worker's obligation to the company. The factors that hinder the implementation of the K3 program at PT National Sago Prima are: lack of employee awareness, lack of employee understanding and knowledge, low supervision from the company, and sanctions given that are too light.
