Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model on critical and creative thinking skills in mathematics learning for students at SMPN 4 Mandau. The form of this research is the Quasi Experiment (quasi experiment). The deSign of this research is Post-Only Control Group DeSign. The population of this study were all class VIII students at SMPN 4 Mandau. The sample for this research is class VIII2 as an experimental class with a total of 29 students and class VIII5 as a control class with a total of 29 students. The data collection technique was carried out by carrying out critical and creative thinking ability tests in the form of description questions. Research data analysis used the Independent Sample T-Test and Manova test with the help of the SPSS program. From the research results after carrying out the Independent Sample TTest, the critical thinking ability obtained was a Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.008<0.05 and the ability to think creatively obtained a value of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.006 <0.05, this means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. The results of the MANOVA test obtained a Sig value of 0.008 <0.05 for critical thinking abilities and a Sig value of 0.006 <0.05 for creative thinking abilities. , this means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on the results of the hypothesis testing that has been carried out, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning learning model on students' critical and creative thinking abilities.
