Abstract

The development of damage detection methods can be done by observing the natural frequency of the structure, using the mode shape. Mode shape is a certain vibration pattern in the structural system as a result of the natural frequency. A mode shape monitor system is needed on a bridge to find out how the structure moves or vibrates in dynamic response to certain forces or stimuli. By knowing the vibration modes and frequencies, we can avoid operating at frequencies that can cause structural damage or failure. In this research, monitoring uses the Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) method. The Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) method was chosen because it is able to detect dynamic characteristics such as natural frequencies, mode shapes, damping ratios without stopping the operation of the structure, and does not disturb traffic for data collection. Modelling was performed using software to generate a 3-dimensional finite element simulation of the flyover structure, based on available technical data and project specifications. This research contributes to the development of a structural health monitoring system. The results show that the flyover has the largest deformation value that still meets the standards that have been analysed through software. The resulting mode shapes indicate critical vibration patterns at certain modes, which can be an important reference in analysing potential structural damage. The natural frequency data and mode shape patterns can be used to validate the safety and stability of the flyover against various dynamic loading conditions that occur during operation.
