Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the audience's reception of the news on Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) on Tirto.id. The qualitative research approach is explained descriptively with its own method, namely the reception analysis method by Stuart Hall which focuses on the process of meaning and in-depth understanding of text messages in the media and how audiences interpret these text messages. Later, categories of dominant audience positions, negotiations, and even opposition will be obtained. Data was collected from in-depth interviews with each informant. Then the researchers analyzed notes, voice recordings and explained the findings that occurred in the field using relevant theories. The results of this study show that the public's knowledge and experience of reporting Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) on Tirto.id is a source of information related to the distribution of assistance, including the mechanism of beneficiaries, distribution of aid, and its distribution. However, on the other hand, the audience interprets the news on Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) on Tirto.id that it should be given directly to beneficiaries through an account, this assistance distribution is an alternative form suggested by channeling institutions, in distributing funds to beneficiaries it must be done quickly without there must be difficulties, it is also said as a form of accountability for tasks, and it doesn't have to be fast but it has to be right on target.
