Abstract

This study aims to determine netnographic studies among adolescents in Bangkinang city. Netnography is simply a method used to study and understand life or culture on the internet, specifically social media. Mobile Legends Bang Bang (commonly abbreviated as ML) is a mobile multiplayer online battle arena type game developed and published by Moonton. This study uses a qualitative approach with netnographic methods. While the data collection techniques used are immersion and observation. Based on the results of immersion and observation in this study, it can be concluded that there is verbal and non-verbal communication in the mobile legends game using netnographic studies. Verbal communication in the form of Ingame Chat which has 3 themes, namely giving praise, ridiculing players and issuing sara words with data collection techniques through immersion. Then there is Voice Chat where words are found that are often spoken by mobile legends players, namely NF and NU, Retri Indomaret, and Draft. Finally, Quick Chat is a chat feature that is available for sending messages to other players. And non-verbal communication has 4 features, namely in the form of stickers, emoji, ping commands and gift/charisma.
