Abstract

Human life is very dependent on energy, the use of which varies, starting from the small scale, namely in daily life such as households, to the large scale, namely in the industrial world. For household purposes, the use of kerosene is replaced with other types of fuel such as LPG (Liquified Petrolium Gas). The form of renewable energy that is of concern in developed countries is hydrogen, where hydrogen is used as an energy supply, and the energy produced is very clean because it only produces water vapor as emissions during the process. This hydrogen gas can be produced by electrolysis of water (H2O) where the electrolyte solution will be reacted using an electric current flow to the electrode to produce hydrogen gas (H2) from the separation of molecules contained in water (H2O), namely hydrogen gas (H2) and oxygen ( O2) using an electrolyzer. The aim of this research is to obtain the effect of variations in electric current and catalyst in the electrolyzer on the performance of gas stoves and to obtain the best gas stove performance results from variations in electric current and catalyst in the electrolyzer. The tools used during the research were an electrolyzer, gas stove, stopwatch and thermogun. In this research, testing was carried out using variations in electric current and catalyst. From the research results, it can be seen that variations in electric current and catalyst influence the performance of gas stoves. The greater the electric current, the greater the production of hydrogen gas produced. . The performance of gas stoves from variations in electric current and KOH catalyst has the best results with the largest stove power produced, namely 2,866 kW, with a stove efficiency of 12,30%, thermal efficiency of 1,.6% and fuel consumption of
